2007 Mission Trip ~ Gulfport, MS

Gum Springs Baptist Church

We had the most amazing time on this trip! We had never worked so hard and felt so satisfied afterward than we did in this week. We found new friends and old friends. Some found God and some found God again. We all agreed we had an awesome time and as someone once said, “It Is All In His Name And For His Glory”… Amen!

2008 Mission Trip ~ Tampa, FL

We are headed to Tampa, FL July 6th through July 12th.  We are working with TEAMeffort again this year, but decided to go with a different location.  We have 14 Youth and 8 Adults heading out and we know God has great things in store for us and the people we meet along the way.  Please keep us in your prayers for a safe journey and fruitful mission.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. Psalm 90:17 (KJV)

Day 1:  We made it to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida without too much trouble.  The devil tried to stop us every way he could, but God is always on our side.  We got settled in to our rooms, grabbed a bite to eat during a horrendous downpour and headed back for worship time.

Day 2:  We started work today on a single mom’s home.  Her name is Shanna and she has a four year old son named Paul and a 6 month old girl named Kaydence.  They are a beautiful family that just needed a little help.  Please keep this family in your prayers as we continue to serve them.  We will keep you updated on our mission throughout the week.

Day 3:  We were back at Shanna’s bright and early to start working.  Floor tiles were laid in three bedrooms and some painting was started in the bedrooms and hallway.  Trim work was cut and painted to put down in the living room where the floor had already been laid by a previous group. The yard was mowed in the front and back and the deck was started out back.

Day 4:  This is our last day working at Shanna, Paul and Kaydence’s home. The painting (artwork) was finished in the kids’ rooms and the trim was put down in the kitchen and living room.  The final edges of linoleum were laid along with any paint touch-up that had to be done.  All of the hallway painting was completed along with the deck out back.  Everyone did a great job and the Youth really took command and made sure the job was finished today.  There were a few surprises for the family before we left, like the small pool out back….and a few surprises for some of our group, like the fact that several hearts are being left behind with these beautiful little children.  Please remember to keep this family in your prayers as they continue to struggle and make a life better for themselves.

Day 5:  This is a free day. We received donated tickets to Busch Gardens and made the most of all the rides and food.

Day 6 & 7:  Our last free day was on Friday and our ride home on Saturday. We took it easy on Friday eating breakfast at the Friendly Fisherman with the TEAMeffort crew. Then we just hung out at the beach for a while before our last night of worship.  The ride home Saturday was long and we couldn’t wait to get home and get to our own beds.
