On Saturday, October 27, 2007, during our Fall Festival our Pastor, Dr. Jimmy E. Westmoreland, began having chest pains. He was taken by ambulance to Gateway Hospital and then taken by life flight to Centennial Medical Center where he passed away a short time later. As you can imagine our church is grieving at this sudden and unexpected loss in our lives. In the short time he has been with us 'Preacher' has had an overwhelming affect in our lives. His powerful and energetic personality came through in every message he delivered, whether it was in front of a congregation, in an email or on the phone. Although we will miss him terribly we know he is in a much better place, delivering a more powerful message. Please keep Gum Spring Baptist Church and the Westmoreland Family in your thoughts and prayers. We are prayerfully seeking God's leadership in His provision by sending His man to serve as our Spiritual leader. If you are a Pastor that may be interested in serving our Lord with us, please let us know by sending a short resume so that we can pray concerning it and possibly talk with you.
