Gum Springs Baptist Church exists to Delight in God, Display His Love,
and Declare His Gospel to our community and to the world.

Mission

At Gum Springs, we seek to Glorify God in 3 specific ways:

  • By Delighting in God – We believe that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him (John Piper). Therefore, our desire as a church is for God to be our greatest treasure, of first importance in all that we do, both corporately and individually. By God’s grace and through the power of the gospel, we will effort to delight in God as we worship together, do life together, and serve our community together.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:4

  •  By Displaying His Love – Jesus Himself said, ““You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-40) At Gum Springs Baptist Church we believe that we can and should fulfill both of these commands because and only because God has first loved us and sent His Son, Jesus Christ in order to reconcile us to himself and adopt us as His sons and daughters. Therefore, because God has loved us in Christ, our desire is to display that love within our church family, as we seek to encourage and impart grace to one another in fellowship. We also seek to display the redeeming love of God in Cunningham and Montgomery County as we look to serve the needs of our community.

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

1 John 4:11

“We love because he first loved us.”

1 John 4:19

  • By Declaring His Gospel – The greatest news in all of the world is that Jesus Christ came to give His life as a ransom for sinners. At Gum Springs Baptist Church, we exist because of the gospel, we are united by and around the gospel, we are motivated and empowered through the gospel, and our mission is to declare the gospel, for the glory of God and the joy of the world. The gospel of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is the center of our doctrine and our community, and our desire is to apply the truths and promises of the gospel to every area of our life as a church and as individuals.

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
