God
We value God and His glory above all else. The motivation for every thing we do as Gum Springs Baptist Church is the worship and glory of God. As such, we will seek to worship God in everything we do, not just on Sundays, but every moment of every day of our lives.
Gospel
The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. It is the power of God for salvation to all who believe on Christ. The gospel is the record of how the creator God reconciles sinners to Himself by His grace, for His glory, and for our eternal joy. Without the gospel, the Church would not exist. The gospel creates the Church, binds the Church, and motivates the Church. At Gum Springs, the gospel is at the center of our worship, our community, our service, and our mission. We desire to proclaim the gospel in all we do, corporately and individually.
Word
The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments record the story of what God has done in history to redeem a people to Himself through the person and work of Jesus Christ (the gospel). From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals the glory and grace of God, culminating in the cross of Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are our source of truth and our final authority as a church. We value the teaching, preaching, praying, singing, memorizing, and application of God’s Word. Our corporate worship will be fueled by Scripture, and our teaching will focus on the exposition of Scripture.
Community
When God redeems us through His gospel, He calls us into a body of believers, who together, display the love and grace of God, as they minister to their community and to one another. At Gum Springs, we value deep, loving relationships that foster discipleship and growth in Christ. In love, we will seek to put others above ourselves, and serve one another in a spirit of grace. We will focus on developing deep, authentic, loving relationships in the church as we eat together, pray together, learn together, and follow Christ together.
Mission
Jesus gave the Church the mission to go and make disciples of all nations. At Gum Springs, we are seeking to be about that mission as we serve our community, meet the needs of our town, and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to our neighbors and to our world. As a church and as individuals, we desire to make our community a better place to live. We will value justice, seek mercy, and show grace to everyone we encounter because of the gospel and for the furtherance of the gospel.
